Located in the heart of Stafford this 18th Century coaching inn is so much more than just a Staffordshire Inn with rooms. They offer warming fires in winter, stunning gardens in summer, and superb seasonal menus that showcase the very best of Staffordshire, the Midlands and beyond.

The site on which The Swan stands is thought to have been the college buildings, serving St. Mary’s Church in the 1600’s. The Swan, an alehouse, emerges in 1711 as one of two buildings on the land owned by Lord Stafford and it is thought that the name “The Swan” comes from his coat of arms.

The Swan Hotel is part of The Coaching Inn Group, which has a passion for restoring lovely old historic coaching inns. We have built a portfolio of these stunning buildings through refurbishing, revitalising and breathing life back into these inns, creating elegant, comfortable and well-priced accommodation and relaxed and stylish bars, coffee houses & eateries.

The bar provides a welcoming sanctuary to stop and enjoy a drink. With a fully-stocked bar featuring a wide range of both alcoholic and non-alcohol beverages, it’s the perfect place for long, lazy afternoons, the start of a great night or to enjoy ‘one for the road’ at the end of an evening.
