The Staffordshire Tolkien Trail is a Staffordshire Libraries walk - a series of three linked walks that cover over 30 miles of the Staffordshire Countryside on and around Cannock Chase.

Routes of the Tolkien Trail

There are three waymarked routes on the Tolkien Trail:

The Cannock Chase walk...
Starting point: Coppice Hill Car Park
Facilities: Car parking, visitor centre
This is a circular walk that explores Brocton Camp, Oldacre Valley and the Glacial Bolder, before moving on to the Rifle Ranges, Rugeley Camp and the Marquis Drive Visitor Centre.

The Great Haywood walk...
Starting point: Coppice Hill Car Park
Facilities: Car parking, visitor centre
This is a circular walk that explores Brocton Camp and Great Haywood. It goes through Brocton Coppice and into the Sherbrook Valley, past The Punch Bowl and across the Shugborough Estate.

The Gypsy Green and Brocton Camp walk...
Starting point: Penkridge Library
Facilities: Free car parking at Haling Dene Centre, visitor centre, pubs
This is a circular walk that follows the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal and the Staffordshire Way to Gypsy Green, on to Bednall and then to Brocton via footpaths. The walk then goes into Cannock Chase and Brocton Camp.
