Tixall & Ingestre Village Hall

The Village Hall at Tixall was built as Tixall Church School by the same architect, Brandon, who rebuilt Tixall Church in 1848 with Wyatt and was conveyed by Lord Shrewsbury in 1855 to the Rector and Church Wardens of Tixall. When the school closed in the early 1900s and the children went to Great Haywood it was used as a Church Hall or Parish Room. In the 1950s a flat roof extension was added to provide ladies toilets, a kitchen and an additional committee room.

However, it remained officially under the jurisdiction of Lichfield Diocese Education Dept. In order to obtain grant funding to restore the building and provide heating and facilities for the disabled, etc. it was established as a separate charity in 2002, with Lichfield Diocese and Lord Shrewsbury forgoing any future claims on the property on the understanding that it would be used as a Village Hall for Tixall and Ingestre.

There is a Local Produce Sale from 10am to 1.30pm on the first Saturday in the month, except January, when Local Vegetables, Bread, Meat, Jams, Cakes, Eggs, Craft items & Cards, are on sale, along with second-hand books sold in aid of Tixall Church. Refreshments are available including Coffee and Guinness Cake and Homemade Soup.

The Hall is also used by the Local History Group who meet on the last Wednesday in the month from September to April; Staffordshire Industrial Archaeological Society on alternate Mondays during the winter; a Yoga class on Thursday evenings, Pilates on Friday mornings in term time and Kung Fu on Friday Evenings.

The Hall is available for hire and is an ideal venue for family and children’s parties and other social events. It is also used for seminars and training sessions. There is a secure grassed area outside with seating.
